Starting today, people may legally use an electric kick scooter on City of Victoria roads as part of the Province's Electric Kick Scooter Pilot.
E-kick scooters must be fitted with a speed-limiter to a maximum of 25 km/h, and riders must be at least 16 years of age and wear a safety helmet. E-kick scooters must use designated bike lanes if available and are not permitted on sidewalks or pedestrian-only paths.
This pilot project will give residents and visitors another clean, convenient and relatively affordable option for getting around Victoria. By expanding opportunities for people to legally test and try e-kick scooters, the City can help reduce household transportation costs while continuing to support a shift toward sustainable travel modes.
