Coral Springs, FL -Six residents who have shown exceptional service to the City of Coral Springs through volunteerism were honored at the City Commission Meeting on Wednesday, April 17 as recipients of the Lynne Johnson Awards.

The award was named after Lynne Johnson, a devoted, long-time city volunteer who passed away in 2009. The volunteers recognized this year are:

Youth Making a Difference: Kasey Ardron
Kasey is a regular volunteer with the Coral Springs Humane Unit. She has a passion for animal care and regularly assists with laundry, paperwork, dishes, bathing animals, and more. Through her dedication and hard work, she has inspired others to volunteer with animals, including members of her family who often accompany her to provide support and extra helping hands.

Senior Making a Difference: Valerie Campbell
Valerie is a member of the Community Involved Government Committee where she embodies a dedicated spirit of volunteerism in many ways. Valerie participates in and volunteers at International Peace Garden Walks, Socrates Club meetings at the Senior Center at Sartory Hall, and Coral Springs Police Department's Citizen's Ambassador Program meetings. She also serves as a Citizen Ambassador herself. During the summer months, Valerie volunteers at the Coral Springs Police Department Summer Camp for underprivileged youth. Her passion and commitment impact many lives.

Committed to Enhancing City Services: Chuck James
With a passion for people, Chuck serves as a member of the city's Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) where he strives to ensure citizens in distress will be cared for in an emergency. He also shares information about CPR throughout the community with the goal to instruct as many people as possible how to perform potentially life-saving measures. In addition, he volunteers at Coral Glades High School as a Safe Keeper and with the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department Administration.

Enhancing the Lives of Coral Springs Residents: Audrey Ehlin (Posthumous)
Audrey actively led scheduled Peace Walks at the International Peace Garden for five years. Rain or shine, Audrey was present on the first Saturday of every month, not only to walk, but also to engage in a moment of spirituality with the community members in attendance. Sadly, Audrey passed away in April 2024. This honor is being presented in her memory as a thank you for her dedication to the Coral Springs community.

Working with Senior Citizens: Joseph Martinez
Joseph demonstrates a passion for people, especially by enriching the lives of senior citizens. He often encourages seniors to participate in outings, regularly checks on their well being, and serves as a source of support and encouragement for them if they experience struggles. In addition, he serves on the Community Involved Government Committee, volunteers with the Neighborhoods with Integrity program, and is a member of the Coral Springs Democratic Club. Furthering his passion for public service, Joseph plans to attend Florida Atlantic University to obtain a bachelor's degree in public management and communications.

Enhancing and Preserving the Natural Environment in Coral Springs: Dylan Cordoba
Passionate about the environment, Dylan is responsible for assisting with organizing the Keep Coral Springs Beautiful initiative. His efforts encourage dozens of students to visit specific areas of the city on select Saturday mornings to clean parks, bus stops, canals, and other public areas several times a year. Together, they collect hundreds of pounds of garbage. Dylan also supports a local food distribution held every other Wednesday in Coral Springs. Through his service, he spreads enthusiasm, motivates others, and demonstrates leadership skills.
