Oracle Romania volunteers delivers online Oracle APEX awareness event ...

Oracle Academy and Oracle Volunteers worked together and organized an online event on 30 January 2024, for increased awareness of Oracle APEX capabilities and use in teaching and learning. The event featured the latest from Oracle APEX, the low-code platform that lets faculty and their students build enterprise applications up to 20 times faster with up to 100 times less code.

We want to thank all participants at this online event, which included 17 university faculty from 14 different universities and 11 counties.

Camelia Ditescu, Oracle Academy Program Manager for Romania and Moldova, opened the event, and was followed by Roxana Chiriacescu, Oracle Senior Account Cloud Engineer. The event included a presentation of the benefits of Oracle Academy APEX curriculum for students and faculty delivered by Rodica Smintina, Oracle Academy Instructor. This was followed by a presentation by Roxana Popa, Oracle Cloud Systems Principal Solution Engineer, entitled "What's New in APEX 23.2," and then a presentation by Ciprian Pustianu, Oracle Principal Solutions Specialist Engineer, on "Current trends: Generative AI + APEX"

Before the Q&A session, Roxana Chiriacescu provided details on the Oracle APEX Romania community.

"My first contact with Oracle Database was in college (Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics from The Bucharest University of Economic Studies) and that was the moment I knew that this is what I wanted to do in the future.
My database professors involved us in the Oracle Academy program, which played an important role in giving us access to useful resources and materials and was a door opener to real-world skills and opportunities," said Roxana Popa. "Having a teacher who always went the extra mile to help students to put theory into practice helped me get a good start in my career."

"I really enjoyed the presentations at this webinar dedicated to Oracle APEX. The new features offered by the latest version of APEX, as well as the integration with generative AI, were extremely interesting," said Iuliana Bota, PhD Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economic Cybernetics, Statistics and Informatics, and Coordinator of the Databases for Business Support Master Program, The Bucharest University of Economic Studies"Moreover, beyond the technical part presented, the event also created strong emotions for me, because one of the presentations was given by one of my former students. It was a joy to see Roxana again after more than 10 years and to see that the foundations laid in the database courses led her to a career with Oracle databases. Well done, Roxana!"
