The Minister of State for Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives, H.E Ahmed Khaleel paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea, H.E Park Jin yesterday, as part of his ongoing Official Visit to the Republic of Korea.

During the meeting, State Minister Khaleel and Minister Park Jin discussed various ways to promote bilateral relations between the two countries, including trade, investment, and cultural exchanges. They further discussed the possibility of increasing tourist traffic between the two countries as well.

State Minister Khaleel expressed his admiration for the Republic of Korea's rich cultural heritage and its advanced technological developments. He also highlighted the potential for further cooperation between the two countries in the field of renewable energy, health care, and education.

Minister Park Jin commended the efforts made by the Maldives to develop its tourism industry and expressed his government's readiness to further enhance the tourism sector through Korean investments and expertise. He also expressed his country's keen interest in increasing cultural exchanges between the two countries.

State Minister Khaleel expressed his appreciation for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him during his visit to the Republic of Korea and expressed his hope that this meeting would lead to further cooperation and strengthened bilateral relations between the two countries.

The meeting between State Minister Khaleel and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Korea His Excellency Park Jin is a significant step towards promoting mutual understanding and cooperation between the Maldives and the Republic of Korea.

The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Second Summit for Democracy held in the Republic of Korea. The Indo-Pacific Regional Meeting of the Second Summit for Democracy was convened by the Government of the Republic of Korea, under the theme of "Challenges and Progress in Addressing Corruption". The Republic of Korea is one of the five co-hosts for this year's summit, along with the United States, Costa Rica, the Netherlands, and Zambia.
