Officers Arrest Suspect with Loaded Firearm in Dorchester

At about 12:34 AM, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, officers assigned to District B-3 (Mattapan) arrested Angelo DeJesus, 35, of Dorchester, on firearm charges.

Officers responded to the area of 981 Morton Street for a shot spotter activation of two rounds. As officers canvassed the area, they recovered one spent shell casing in the area of 29 Woodbole Avenue. Officers further searched for a victim, suspect, and evidence, but were unable to locate anything further.

As officers cleared the scene, they observed a motor vehicle idling in the area of 129 Standard Street. Officers remained in the area, and observed an individual walk to the even side of the street. Officers lost sight of the individual, who then reappeared coming from the backyard of 140 Standard Street.

The individual was then seen walking towards Woodbole Avenue. Officers observed the individual walked up the front steps of 29 Woodbole Avenue and began knocking on the front door. The individual then made his way to the rear of the address and out of officers' sight.

Officers exited their cruiser and walked to the rear of 29 Woodbole Avenue. Officers immediately observed an individual who appeared to be intoxicated. With the assistance of responding officers, officers returned to Standard Street to investigate the suspect's motor vehicle. Officers observed inside the vehicle in plain view a spent shell casing and multiple small bottles of alcohol.

Boston Police K9s were deployed to search the flight path of the suspect. K9 Logan made an alert in the backyard of 140 Standard Street, and officers located a firearm inside a grill. The firearm was later determined to be a Polymer 80 with an empty magazine. The firearm's slide also had an obliterated serial number.

DeJesus was placed under arrest and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, defacement of a firearm serial number, discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, and disturbing the peace. He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
