NCOP Hosts National Women’s Day Debate

Parliament, Tuesday 09 August 2022 - The National Council of Provinces will, during its virtual plenary on Wednesday 10 August, commemorate National Women's Day through a debate under the theme: "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow."

The National Women's Day, a South African public holiday on 09 August, is an opportunity to commemorate and honour the courageous women who took a brave stance against the ruthless apartheid regime's unjust laws. This year marks 66 years since about 20 000 South African women from all backgrounds and races marched to the Union Buildings in Pretoria to protest against the inhumane apartheid pass laws that restricted the movement of "Black" South Africans.

DETAILS OF THE DEBATE ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Date: Wednesday, 10 August 2022
Time: 14:00
Venue: Online Platform
