Earth Day 2021 is this week! This year's theme, Restore Our Earth™, speaks to the idea that every one of us needs a healthy Earth to support our jobs, livelihoods, health, survival and happiness-and that a healthy planet is not an option, it's a necessity. And we agree.
The history of Earth Day
The first Earth Day, which kicked off in the U.S. in 1970, marked the beginning of a now-worldwide effort to support an environmental movement that continues today.
Earth Day helped inspire the United States Environmental Protection Agency, as well as the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species acts. The campaign spread internationally 20 years later. It inspired millions of people across the world and gave major attention to issues like recycling.
