Metzger Farm Open Space Wildland Fire Training Rescheduled

Rescheduled to April 22, 23 and 26, the Westminster Fire Department plans to conduct a wildland fire training at Metzger Farm (weather permitting). Fire crews will be simulating a wildfire incident on the property and practicing techniques for fire suppression. During the training, the public will see fire personnel and apparatus on site, and fire crews will be deploying hoses, utilizing wildland fire vehicles (brush trucks) and spraying water. No actual fire will be used and no water will be sprayed inside the farmstead where the buildings are located. Public access will be maintained throughout the training. Metzger Farm is jointly owned by the City of Westminster and City and County of Broomfield. Signage notifying visitors to Metzger Farm will also be placed on the property before the event occurs. For questions contact the Wildlife Training Office at 303-658-4500 or [email protected].
