National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic Meets with Ghanaian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration

The Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia Ana Brnabic met today with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana.

Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey congratulated Ana Brnabic on her appointment to her new post of National Assembly Speaker, expressing her certainty that the Speaker's dedicated work would contribute to the continued strengthening of the institutions and advancement of society.

National Assembly Speaker Ana Brnabic expressed hope that the cooperation between the two countries would continue in the future, with the aim to achieve common goals and interests. The officials also highlighted the considerable potentials for the improvement of economic cooperation between Serbia and Ghana, especially in the field of agriculture where Serbia has vast experience. In addition, they spoke of cooperation within the EXPO 2027 specialised international exhibition which is an outstanding platform for the promotion of the country and its people, as well as an excellent way to attract tourists and investors.

Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey underlined the importance of the cooperation between the two countries in the context of current international challenges and changes, expressing satisfaction at the development of their relations and Ghana's readiness to advance cooperation with Serbia.

As per the promise President Aleksandar Vucic gave the President of Ghana, Serbia has increased the number of scholarships for Ghanaian students. Since the beginning of the project, Serbia has offered 106 scholarships, 80 of which have been used (in academic year 2022/2023, 32 scholarships were offered with 21 of them being awarded). This initiative aims to strengthen cooperation in the field of education between Serbia and Ghana by contributing to the exchange of knowledge and experience between the students of the two countries.

This year marks the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Serbia and Ghana, which underlines the importance of furthering cooperation between the two countries in the fields of politics, diplomacy and other areas of common interest. The officials stressed that this visit was a sign of continuation of friendship between the two peoples.
