Price Situationer of Selected Agricultural Commodities First Phase of May 2023

  1. Increments in the average retail prices of a kilogram of well milled rice, ranging from PhP 0.05 to PhP 2.67, were noted in eight trading centers during the first phase of May 2023 (01 to 05 May 2023) compared with their price levels in the second phase of April 2023 (15 to 17 April 2023). On the other hand, its average retail prices per kilogram dropped by PhP 0.05 to PhP 1.05 in six trading centers during the period. (Table 1)
  2. The average retail prices of a kilogram of pork kasim climbed by PhP 0.62 to PhP 20.00 in eight trading centers during the first phase of May 2023. However, its average retail price per kilogram declined by PhP 10.00 in Cabanatuan City during the period. (Table 2)
  3. Decreases in the average retail prices of a kilogram of galunggong, ranging from PhP 2.23 to PhP 50.00, were reported in eight trading centers during the first phase of May 2023. Meanwhile, its average retail prices per kilogram went up by PhP 5.00 in Kidapawan City, by PhP 10.00 in Legazpi City, by PhP 30.00 in Tacloban City, and by PhP 35.00 in Calapan City during the period.   4. Majority of the monitored vegetables posted declines in the average retail prices during the first phase of May 2023. (Table 4)
  5. Increases in the average retail prices of a kilogram of red onion, ranging from PhP 15.00 to PhP 72.50, were observed in 12 trading centers during the first phase of May 2023. On the contrary, its average retail prices per kilogram were lower by PhP 12.00 in Cagayan de Oro City and by PhP 27.50 in Tacloban City during the period. (Table 5)
  6. The average retail prices of a kilogram of calamansi moved up by PhP 5.00 to PhP 30.00 in five trading centers during the first phase of May 2023. On the other hand, its average retail prices per kilogram slowed down by PhP 0.54 in the National Capital Region and by PhP 10.00 in both San Fernando City (Region 1) and Cabanatuan City during the period.   7. Varied changes were observed in the average retail prices of a kilogram of refined sugar in nine trading centers during the first phase of May 2023. Price decreases of PhP 0.50 to PhP 5.00 were noted in six trading centers, while three regions recorded price increases ranging from PhP 1.50 to PhP 2.00 during the period. (Table 7)
