Madie Lake Named Student of the Year

Every year, the David and Anna (Teggeman) Stock TLU Student of the Year Award recognizes one outstanding student who has demonstrated excellence in leadership, scholarship, and service to the Texas Lutheran University community. This year, senior political science major Madeline "Madie" Lake received the award.

"I am grateful to have been selected for such a prestigious award and opportunity," says Lake. "I feel incredibly honored to be able to represent TLU and my peers. Thank you to everyone who helped me get where I am today and supported me the last four years."

Madie is a third-year senior residence assistant for Campus Living, senior audio-visual technician for Campus Ministry, and event technician for University Events. She's president of the Wesley Foundation, vice-president of Alpha Chi, treasurer of EnAct Club, and a member of the Black and Gold President's Council and Pi Sigma Alpha.

Outside of TLU, Madie also serves as an ambassador for Global Refuge (formerly Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service) and as a community board member for the University of Texas School of Public Health's Houston Hospital Violence Intervention Program. She's been on the President's List four times and the Dean's List twice.

Following her graduation from TLU, Madie will transition into a full-time role at Trulight127 Ministries as a Family Care Specialist where she will be doing case management for foster kids and families in Seguin and the surrounding area.
