D-14 Officers Arrest Two on Armed Robbery and Firearm Charges Following Search Warrant Execution

On Friday, May 24, 2024, members of the District D-14 (Brighton) Drug Control Unit and District Detectives executed an arrest and search warrant, leading to the apprehension of James Wise, 64, of Dorchester, and David Jones, 65, of Lynn on armed robbery and firearm-related charges.

Officers conducted the operation in the area of 130 Chestnut Hill Ave, Brighton, in connection with an attempted armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at Cumberland Farms located at 148 Chestnut Hill Ave. During this incident, Wise entered the store at approximately 11:11 PM, brandished a firearm, and attempted to rob the store. The robbery was unsuccessful as the victim fled the scene.

During the execution of the search warrant, officers found evidence directly related to the attempted armed robbery, including a Black Springfield Arms .45 caliber firearm and an unassembled AR-15 style rifle.

Wise was taken into custody and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, unlawful possession of a large capacity feeding device, unlawful possession of an assault weapon, and attempted robbery. Jones was also taken into custody and charged with possession of Class A and Class B drugs, along with attempted armed robbery. Both suspects are scheduled to appear for arraignment at Brighton District Court.
