ST's innovations, including breakthroughs in edge AI and connected security, empower developers with robust solutions and ensure seamless integration and ease of use.

Upon entering the STMicroelectronics booth, visitors were greeted by our team of technical experts, eager to engage in in-depth technical discussions. They offered insights and support, helping visitors navigate the ever-evolving tech landscape.

STM32U0: up to 50% energy saving

This demo highlights the ultra-low power STM32U0 MCU. It powers a thermometer and light meter using only a solar panel. Key features include minimal power consumption (20μg avg), integrated LCD control, and low-power data transmission. Attendees often asked if it's a complete development platform: the answer is no. This demo is an expansion of ST's low-power MCU portfolio.

STM32H7: 1st demos with bootflash and on-the-fly encryption

The STM32H7R/S is a 600MHz Cortex-M7 Bootflash microcontroller line that redefines product design discussions. Tailored for applications demanding both high performance and real-time operation, these MCUs offers a cost-effective, future-proof platform. With just 64 Kbytes of Flash, they ensure swift booting while allowing developers to select optimal external memories for density and performance. The STM32H7R/S line features advanced security targeting SESIP3 and PSA level three certifications. It also features variants with a NeoChrom GPU for stunning graphics, including 3D effects and full-screen MJPEG video, all efficiently executed from external memory. Additionally, the microcontroller line supports high-speed USB interfaces with USB-C power delivery, reinforcing its role as a secure, high-performance foundation for cutting-edge applications.

The STM32H7 Connectivity Demo shows the MCU controlling a gateway that is connected either to AWS server through Ethernet and to a Zigbee coordinator via tweet. This allows to have different end device in order to monitor temperature and to control the humidity in different room in a house.
The demo highlighted cloud connectivity, local wireless capabilities, and an impressive TouchGFX GUI supported by a NeoChrom GPU. Visitors showed keen interest in the MCU's memory capacity, the transition to a flashless architecture, and the cost benefits associated with reduced flash memory-key factors that make the STM32H7R/S a flexible and economical choice for modern embedded systems.

STM32WBA55: 1st multi-protocol STM32WBA MCU

The STM32WBA55 combines innovation, flexibility, and enhanced security features such as AES and PKA, Active RTC tamper, TrustZone, and Trusted Firmware. With multiple short-range protocols running simultaneously, including Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4, Zigbee, Open Thread, and Matter as a Thread Border router, ST guarantee you the highest level of security and flexibility in the industry. The Bluetooth Low Energy Audio streaming features, including Unicast and Auracast, ensure crystal clear quality and low latency. The demo demonstrates the product's robustness in terms of security through a door lock with biometric authentication. STM32WBA5X is fully supported by the STM32Cube ecosystem, ensuring ease of use.

STM32MP2: the demo with QT framework integration

We presented three key demo areas for the STM32 MPU. The "MP2 Next Gen" area showcased the graphical capabilities of the new STM32MP2, highlighting its powerful embedded GPU and Qt framework integration. Common queries focused on graphics partnerships, resolutions, and product availability. In the "MP2 Ethernet" demo, the built-in Ethernet switch and TSN support were demonstrated, with attendees impressed by the chip-level integration and prioritization capabilities. Lastly, the "MP2 Graphics" section emphasized fluid display validation and touchscreen interaction, leveraging the GPU and Qt framework. Visitors were intrigued by the partnership with Qt and the GPU's performance.

X-CUBE-MATTER: a solution to current challenges

This demo showcased a Matter protocol, featuring end devices powered by the WB55 microcontrollers communicating seamlessly with a commercial gateway. ST also presented a complete Matter ecosystem solution, including gateways and bridges, powered by the STM32MP1 and a coprocessor. Key features highlighted were compatibility with existing commercial systems, a full suite of Matter-ready devices, and ongoing development for enhanced Matter certification support. Additionally, ST introduced X-CUBE-MATTER, a comprehensive software package designed to streamline the development of Matter applications.

Edge AI: easily create AI models for Arduino

This demo features a reference design that marries motor control with AI and advanced sensing, enabling predictive maintenance and efficiency optimization. This design is complemented by a machine learning algorithm on an Arduino board for hand gesture recognition, showcasing AI's accessibility beyond high-tech environments.

Using the NanoEdge AI studio, developers can easily create AI models for Arduino, requiring minimal memory and no AI expertise. The studio's autoML approach streamlines AI library development, compatible with the Arduino IDE and capable of running on a wide range of STM32 microcontrollers.

This innovation demonstrates AI's potential for diverse applications, such as smartwatches and motor maintenance, without incurring extra infrastructure costs. ST provides tutorials for enthusiasts to experiment with edge AI at home, emphasizing the ease of integrating AI into practical applications.
