Linn County and City of Ely to Partner on Tree-planting Event May 16

Linn County and the City of Ely are working together to restore Ely's tree canopy following the loss of more than 70 trees during Ely's Ash Tree Removal Project. Linn County donated $5,000 to purchase 49 trees to plant in Ely rights-of-way. The funding came from the County's salvage harvest of logs on County property following the 2020 derecho.

The City of Ely and Linn County will hold a tree-planting event on May 16 from 5-7:30 p.m. The event will begin in Schulte Park, at 1310 Banner Valley Road in Ely.

Volunteers are needed to help plant the trees on May 16. To volunteer, visit the United Way Volunteer Now website to sign up. Volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves.
