State Police Investigating Robbery in Wilmington

The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that occurred last night on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington.

On May 13, 2024, at approximately 10:15 p.m., troopers responded to a report of a robbery that occurred on Maryland Avenue in the area of South Broom Street in Wilmington. The preliminary investigation revealed that an unknown black male suspect approached the victim as he was walking on Maryland Avenue. The suspect proceeded to steal the victim's backpack while pointing an unknown object at him that the victim believed may have been a handgun. After the victim complied, the suspect fled on foot in an unknown direction with the victim's property.

The suspect is described as a black male. Surveillance video and images of the suspect are not available.

The Delaware State Police Troop 2 Criminal Investigations Unit is still investigating this. Detectives are asking anyone with information about this case to contact Detective R. Strecker by calling (302) 365-8413. Information may also be provided by sending a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at 1-800-847-3333.
