Fort Worth City Council recently approved a construction contract for the second phase of Trinity Boulevard. The contract was awarded to Jackson Construction Ltd. in the amount of $12,099,342 for the construction of a four-lane road, replacement of water transmission line and other improvements.

Why it matters: This is a significant infrastructure development project that will enhance transportation and improve the City's overall infrastructure. The project is part of the City's Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and aims to improve road connectivity and amenities along Trinity Boulevard.

What's next: Construction will begin in early fall 2024. The project in Council District 5 signifies a major investment in improving transportation infrastructure and will provide significant benefits to the community.

Go deeper: This phase will continue from Phase 1 at Salado Trail to the existing concrete four-lane section of Trinity Boulevard at Thames Trail. The Transportation & Public Works Department will be building the same four-lane median divided concrete road with 10 sidewalks, illumination and landscaping, in addition to replacing the 36-inch waterline.

Phase 1 will have the pavement built by summer 2024, with remaining illumination and landscaping to be complete in fall 2024. Phase 2 will begin with waterline construction in fall 2024 with road construction to follow. The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is also looking to finish construction on IH-820 near Trinity Boulevard this summer.
