Four goals from the same feet in Famalicão

May 20, 2023 10:42 PM

FC Porto beat Famalicão 4-2 with four goals scored by Mehdi Taremi

The story of the match Famalicão-FC Porto was written in Persian, a language unknown to the general audience, but celebrated the first FC Porto player to reach a poker in the League in the current century. Mehdi Taremi scored four goals, Famalicão two and FC Porto - who had secured their 27th Champions League participation just minutes before the match, as SC Braga tied against Boavista - got three important points, as the Dragons are just one point behind Benfica, on condition.

The first half of the match was an emotional rollercoaster, as the Dragons went from heaven to hell at the end of the first 45 minutes. Determined to quickly end the determination of the home team, the blue and whites could have scored 90 seconds in, by Eustaquio, but the midfielder failed to beat Luiz Júnior after Otávio's superb pass to Toni Martínez, also fantastic he passed the ball with his chest. Eustaquio and Toni Martínez were actually two of the new faces Sérgio Conceição sent in from the start in comparison to the match against Casa Pia.

Otávio, one of the best, was the protagonist three minutes in, as he dribbled Ricielli and Ivo Rodrigues, and was taken down in the area. Called to penalty spot, Mehdi Taremi missed the first attempt, but, as an opponent walked in, Fábio Veríssimo called for a penalty repeat. Four minutes after the first attempt, the Iranian shot for goal in the second and put FC Porto ahead on the scoreboard. Insatiable by nature, the national champions, guided by the number 25, quickly reached the second. Otávio broke the defence with a fantastic pass that freed Taremi. The number 9 dribbled the opposing goalkeeper and scored. 2-0 nine minutes in, you couldn't ask for a better start to the match.

Always aiming at attracting the pressure of the home team to then quickly exploit the back of the defence, preferably with Galeno, the blue and whites saw Galeno, in a great individual play, dribble several opponents and shoot at the foot of the last defender (24m), aiming at the goal defended by goalkeeper Luiz Júnior, who, attentive, saved it (30m). The goal did come, but it belonged to Famalicão. 33 minutes in, Ivo Rodrigues crossed near the right corner of the FC Porto area and Iván Jaime, on the far post, headed it in.

Diogo Costa opposed Pablo (37m), Toni Martínez passed to Grujic and the midfielder couldn't make it count (39m) and then came the most controversial play of the first half: 41 minutes in, after a deep throw on the right, Ricielli deflected to the near post and, in the far post, Pepê and Otavio fought for the ball without any issue. But referee Fábio Veríssimo and then the VAR Vasco Santos thought otherwise, and believe the number 11 hit the opponent's head, giving a penalty for the home team. Colombatto shot into the middle of the goal and the first 45 minutes were over with two goals for each side.

The second half was then written in Persian, from the penalty spot. After disregarding Otavio hitting Eustachio's leg inside the area (51m), Fábio Veríssimo also ignored Zaydou's handball to prevent Eustachio's shot (61m), but the VAR warned him to it and Mehdi Taremi reached his hat-trick, relentless from the penalty spot. Also from that same spot, after the VAR warned Fábio Veríssimo again, as Zadydou stepped on Evanilson, the Iranian (71m) made it count again and reached his poker in the match.

Again leading by two (4-2), the Dragons didn't let go and the ball went for a fifth goal, but Galeno's goal was disallowed as Mehdi Taremi was offside when he got the pass from Uribe, before assisting the number 13. With nothing more noteworthy until the end, FC Porto got three more points and reduced the distance to Benfica to one point. The Reds face Sporting on Sunday.
