"The Texas Music Office, on behalf of the Office of the Governor, is proud to announce the official recognition today, March 21, 2023, in the Texas House of Representatives of legendary Texas musician Robert Earl Keen for his contributions to Texas music. From his early days in Houston and at Texas A&M, to winning the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival New Folk Songwriting Competition, to writing the iconic 'The Road Goes On Forever,' and his inductions into the Texas Heritage Songwriters Association Hall of Fame, the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, and the Texas Institute of Letters, this is a well-deserved honor for REK.
