The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation, General of the Army Sergei Shoigu, inspected the construction of infrastructure facilities for the mooring front for the deployment of the submarine forces of the Northern Fleet in Gadzhievo city, Murmansk Region.
The Minister of Defence of the Russian Federation was informed that the construction is planned to be completed in September this year.
In total, the project provides for the construction and reconstruction of 49 different coastal infrastructure facilities, including three berths for basing project 955 and 955A missile submarines (Borey and Borey-A).
Completion of the work will make it possible to fully provide the ships at the berths with all energy media, communications, high-pressure air and high-purity water.
Also, the Minister of Defence was informed on the comprehensive modernization of the power supply system of the facilities of the military department on the territory of the Gadzhievo garrison.
At present, the core of the submarine forces are strategic missile carriers armed with Sineva and Bulava ballistic missiles, as well as multipurpose submarines carrying missile and torpedo weapon systems on board.
