So we can best represent your interests we ask you to fill out this short questionnaire on your plans with Longer Semi-Trailers after Thursday 29 February.
We've continued to raise members ongoing concerns with the Department for Transport (DfT) about the requirements for Longer Semi-Trailers - and urged them to amend the requirements.
DfT amended the guidance last month to provide more detail on compliance. This includes confirmation that a generic risk assessment can be used to cover operations on motorways, and the publication of example templates.
Furthermore, the trial has been extended to 29 February after we raised concerns with DfT.
We recognise the concerns operators will continue to have with the onerous nature of the new regulations and we continue to urge for these to be amended.
Given that significant changes will require a change to the legislation, DfT have advised us that this will not be done in the short term.
We strongly advise members to review the updated guidance and prepare for the end of the trial (29 February) using providers (e.g. Samsara or Microlise) where this can assist in automating the process.
You can also contact Paul Brand at Risk Solutions who can offer any insights on how other operators have complied. Contact - [email protected].
