New Fort Kent and Madawaska Hannaford stores to open on Friday, April 12

In preparation for conversion, stores will temporarily close on Monday, April 8 at 2 p.m. for three days before reopening Friday morning

Hannaford to donate $5,000 to Aroostook County Action Program in celebration of grand openings

Aroostook County, Maine - Hannaford Supermarkets will officially welcome customers to its new stores in Fort Kent and Madawaska beginning on Friday, April 12 at 7 a.m. The grand openings follow Hannaford's acquisition of the stores earlier this year, which formerly operated as Paradis Shop 'n Save Supermarkets and were supplied and supported by Hannaford.

Under the Hannaford banner, the Fort Kent and Madawaska stores will offer the grocery retailer's fresh, high-quality food and everyday low prices, as well as a variety of products designed to enhance convenience for shoppers, including fresh-cut fruit; freshly-made grab-and-go sandwiches and salads; and ready-to-heat and ready-to-eat entrees.

Shoppers at the Fort Kent and Madawaska stores will also continue to enjoy Hannaford's unique store brand offerings, including Taste of Inspirations, Hannaford and Nature's Promise, as well as an expansive selection of products from local farms and producers.

"While we've long been connected to Fort Kent and Madawaska, we are excited to officially become a part of these outstanding communities," said Hannaford Supermarkets Vice President of Retail Operations Todd Bullen. "We look forward to welcoming shoppers through our doors as they discover the fresh products, dependable value and convenient offerings available at our stores."

At the new stores, customers will also enjoy My Hannaford Rewards, a program that allows members to earn two percent rewards on all private brand purchases and receive personalized coupons. In celebration of the opening, My Hannaford Rewards customers will receive four percent rewards on all private brand purchases at the Fort Kent and Madawaska stores from April 12 through 16.

The Fort Kent store will employ approximately 80 full- and part-time associates, and the Madawaska store will employ as many as 60 full- and part-time associates.

In celebration of the grand openings, Hannaford will donate $5,000 to the Aroostook County Action Program, which provides programs that support personal, economic and community growth.

The Fort Kent store is located at 62 West Main Street. The Madawaska store is located at 58 Main Street in Madawaska. The stores will be open seven days a week. Store hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday; and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.

The addition of the Fort Kent and Madawaska stores will bring the total number of Hannaford locations to 189, including 68 in Maine. Hannaford Supermarkets was founded in Portland in 1883 and is headquartered in Scarborough, Maine.
