Grover Beach Breaks Ground on West Grand Avenue Streetscape 4th-8th Street Project

The City of Grover Beach is thrilled to announce that the West Grand Avenue Streetscape 4th-8th Street Project has officially broken ground as of Monday, May 13. This transformative streetscape will bring a host of improvements to West Grand Avenue between 4th and 8th streets to create a safer, more pedestrian-friendly commercial corridor.

"We are incredibly excited to see the West Grand Avenue Streetscape project come to life," said Grover Beach Mayor Karen Bright. "This initiative will not only beautify our downtown area but also enhance safety and accessibility for all residents and visitors."

Project construction is expected to last through December 2024. Throughout construction, the City will proactively communicate with the community and affected property owners and businesses and take every measure to minimize disruptions.

Once complete, the project will revitalize the City's downtown area, reduce traffic speeds and promote pedestrian activity. Some key elements of the project include:

• Road repavement
• Improved bike lanes
• Construction of center medians
• New storm drains from 4th to 9th Street (including part of N. 9th Street)
• Enhanced pedestrian crosswalks at 4th, 6th, and 8th Streets
• New curb ramps at intersections
• Sidewalk repairs
• Street trees and pedestrian lighting

"The West Grand Avenue Streetscape project represents a significant investment in the future of Grover Beach," said Grover Beach City Manager Matt Bronson. "By upgrading our infrastructure and improving the streetscape, we are laying the groundwork for economic growth and improved quality of life for our residents."
