HILTON HEAD, Sc.. - The Augusta University men's golf team leads the field after two rounds of the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate Invitational in Hilton Head, SC on Monday. Francis Marion University hosts the 2-day, 18 team tournament.
The 2019 field includes Augusta, Furman, Davidson, High Point, Wofford, Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, Radford, Presbyterian, Cleveland State, Akron, Winthrop, Dayton, Francis Marion, USC Aiken, Temple, Cornell, and Dartmouth,.
Augusta leads the event at 6 under par through the first 36 holes of play on the Par 72 course. . Furman sits second (-4), Davidson is third (+5), High Point is fourth (+7), and Wofford is fifth (+9) through round two.
Augusta freshman Ben Van Wyke, senior, Gustav Anderson, sophomore Alex Van Wyke, freshman Jack Vajda, and freshman Hampus Wijkstrom made up Augusta's starting five. Ben Van Wyke led in first place after Day 1 after shooting a 70 (-2) in round one and a round two tournament low of 67(-5). Guastav Anderson sits tied for 6th. Alex Van Wyk is tied for 14thJack Vajda is tied for 24th, and Hampus Wijkstom sits tied for 36th. Ben Van Wyke led the team with 11 Eales on the day. The team cared 35 Eagles total in the first two rounds.
The event concludes on Tuesday, February 25th with tee times off holes one, two, and three beginning at 8:15 a.m.
