Argentina bounce back on day two against Belarus

Gaston Gaudio's side prevailed 3-1 in their Davis Cup by Rakuten World Group I tie against Belarus after wins in the doubles for Maximo Gonzalez and Horacio Zeballos and a win in singles for Diego Schwartzman.

The home side looked rattled when Gonzalez and Zeballos dropped the opening set of the doubles match against Erik Arutiunian and Daniil Ostapenkov (the player who stunned Schwartzman on Saturday).

But normal service resumed when the Argentine pair fought back, showing all their experience and skill, to win 5-7 6-2 6-2 in one hour and 51 minutes at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.

Schwartzman also looked like his usual self and the world No. 15 put the memory of a bad day at the office on Saturday behind him as he needed just one hour to overcome Alexander Zgirovsky 6-1 6-2 to clinch the tie for the South Americans.

Argentina will progress directly to February's Davis Cup Qualifiers, where they will be looking to advance once again to the Davis Cup Finals at the end of the year.

Belarus will contest a World Group I Play-off in February.
