Broadband Feedback Survey

Since 2021 Story County has been working with our internet service providers (ISPs) to expand access to adequate and affordable broadband throughout our county. To-date our local ISPs have received over $10 million in grant funding from the State of Iowa's Office of Chief Information Officer (OCIO). With these funds, they will be able to greatly expand service over the next couple of years.

However, there are still several households in Story County that will not have access to adequate, affordable broadband. You are receiving this letter because yours might be one of them, and we are hoping to receive additional funding in the next few years to meet our goal of broadband for all.

The OCIO is updating its map of broadband availability in Iowa, in preparation for a new funding round. Based on available information (mostly from ISPs), it considers locations to be in one of the following categories based on speed:

  • Served: Have access to at least 100 mbps download speed and 20 mbps upload speed
  • Underserved: Have less than "Served" speeds, but have at least 25 mbps or more download and at least 3 mbps or more upload
  • Unserved: Have less than "Underserved" speeds, or do not have access internet service

If you received a mailer from Story County about broadband availability, or believe you do not have adequate broadband, please fill out the survey linked below to provide feedback to assist in possible funding efforts.
