Tentative agreement ratified at the Lac Leamy Casino

[Link] Tension at the Lac Leamy Casino has been ratcheted down a notch, as CUPE3993 membership ratified the tentative agreement with Loto-Québec at a virtual meeting on Tuesday evening.

The new contract, which runs until April 30, 2025, calls for wage increases of 2 per cent for 2020, 3 per cent for 2021 and 2022, 2.5 per cent for 2023 and 2 per cent for 2024. Moreover, a new premium was negotiated for employees working weekends, and the premium for night staff was improved.

"Given the current situation where the casino has been temporarily closed due to the COVIID-19 pandemic, the bargaining committee is satisfied with the outcome. Both parties made considerable efforts to achieve the end result," declared CUPEunion representative Guy Gosselin.

At present, another two union organizations - one representing employees in the general unit (CUPE2892) and the other the security guards and surveillance technicians (CUPE3959) - are renewing their collective agreements.

The three unions affiliated with CUPEaccount for about 700 employees at the Lac Leamy Casino.
