Why Won’t NRCC Chair Tom Emmer Say Whether He Supports Conspiracy Theories or the Truth in GOP Leadership Fight?

Minneapolis Star Tribune : 'Neither the NRCC nor a spokesperson for Emmer directly addressed questions' on whether he supports ousting Cheney for telling the truth

House Republicans are well on their way to ousting Congresswoman Liz Cheney, the third ranking Republican in leadership, for refusing to propagate the Big Lie that the 2020 presidential election was stolen - the very rhetoric which led to the deadly insurrection in the Capitol on January 6.

But as Republicans work to replace Cheney for the unforgivable sin of telling the truth with Elise Stefanik, a Trump toady who has repeatedly pushed disproven conspiracies about the results of the 2020 election, one Republican has been noticeably silent.

Tom Emmer is refusing to come clean on whether he's on the side of QAnon and election conspiracy theorists, or those who tell the truth. And his hometown paper the Minneapolis Star Tribune has taken note, reporting that the NRCC Chair has 'dodge[d] weighing in' and wouldn't 'directly address questions about Cheney.'

'House Republicans continue to show their cards in the run up to the midterm elections: support Trump and his debunked conspiracy theories about the election at all costs even when it's a threat to our Democracy. Tom Emmer must answer whether he agrees with House Republicans throwing Rep. Cheney under the bus for telling the truth, all while sticking with Members like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz even as they peddle QAnon conspiracies and face credible allegations of sex trafficking crimes,' said DCCC spokesperson Chris Taylor.
