NLMK Group pilots AI for faster software development

NLMK Group has piloted the use of generative artificial intelligence tools (GenAI) for accelerating software product development. The Company has tested a number of tools aimed at increasing the productivity of developers when performing various types of tasks. The pilot has resulted in a productivity increase of 53% in certain tasks coupled with a 34% speed increase of change request implementation.

GenAI is a class of artificial intelligence systems that are trained on large datasets to generate new content. These are primarily neural networks that can create texts, images, audio, and other types of content. The pilot by NLMK IT deployed neural networks to generate software code.

A team of 25 developers from NLMK IT partnered with Axenix to test the deployment of GenAI in order to speed up product development in production management, HR services, and portal services.

The key advantage of GenAI is in the timesaving for standard tasks. This technology enables developers to optimize their workload and dedicate more time to creative work.

This year NLMK IT plans to roll out the newly introduced AI-based techniques to development teams and expand the use of GenAI tools across the entire cycle of software implementation.
