Strengthening University of London’s partnerships in Egypt and UAE

In Egypt, Alistair visited the European Universities in Egypt (EUE) in the New Administrative Capital near Cairo. EUE offers a range of University of London programmes from its impressive new campus. Discussions centred around the current collaboration, challenges and opportunities for further growth. Whilst in Egypt, Alistair also visited El Alsson British and American School in New Giza, near Cairo, a highly regarded school with around 2,500 students, with talks exploring potential avenues for future cooperation. The school's Executive Director is an Alumnus of the University of London.

In the UAE, Alistair attended the official launch of the University's partnership with Britts Imperial University College in Sharjah. A Memorandum of Understanding signing ceremony marked the occasion and Alistair met with the senior team to discuss the University of London programmes now being offered at the new Recognised Teaching Centre. He also represented the University at a major education fair, visiting the Britts Imperial stand and learning about their student recruitment efforts.

Alistair later toured the campus of Amity University Dubai and met with their senior team. The University already collaborates with Amity (a large, global higher education group) in Singapore. Discussions explored the possibility of working with Amity in Dubai.

The final stop was a meeting with the Executive Director of GEMS Middle East Holding in Dubai. On the agenda was the British International University in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq, which opened in autumn 2024 as a large new Recognised Teaching Centre offering University of London programmes.

Alistair Jarvis said: "It's been a pleasure to meet with our partners, both new and long-standing. There are huge opportunities for the University to expand access to University of London programmes in this region. Strengthening our collaboration with international partners allows us to deliver high-quality programmes that offer huge value to students in Egypt, the UAE and beyond."
