Development Bank of Kazakhstan JSC (hereinafter - the Bank, DBK) participated in the Digital Almaty-2025 Forum, where key issues of digital transformation and technological development were discussed.
During the panel session "Sustainable Development Goals: From a Sustainable Enterprise to a Sustainable Region", Chairman of the Management Board of DBK Marat Yelibayev spoke about the Bank's activities in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and how the implementation of digitalization helps achieve SDG 9: "Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure". It is worth noting that the Bank is committed to 14 out of 17 SDGs in its operations.
As part of the event, an agreement was signed to open a credit line between DBK and National Information Technologies JSC (hereinafter -NIT JSC) to implement a project aimed at providing server equipment for the information systems of Kazakhstan's government agencies. This project is the first for NIT JSC to be financed through borrowed funds.
As the Operator of the Information and Communication Infrastructure of the "e-Government" of the Republic of Kazakhstan, NIT JSC is embarking on an important project to develop ICT infrastructure for government agencies. Modern server equipment will be purchased and installed under this project. The total cost of the project amounted to KZT 34.3 billion.
At an extended meeting of the Government on January 28, 2025, the President of Kazakhstan Kasym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the importance of widespread introduction of digital technologies and set the task of creating a self-sufficient digital ecosystem based on quality data and a reliable system of their protection.
"The implementation of this project will create a reliable and fault-tolerant infrastructure for the operation of government information systems. This will not only increase the level of data protection, but will also be an important step in the digital transformation of the country, improving the quality of public services," said Marat Yelibayev, Chairman of the Management Board of DBK.
NIT JSC noted that attracting funding in partnership with DBK will provide the necessary support for the implementation of the project, allowing the rapid development of server infrastructure without significant use of budgetary funds. This project will be an important step in developing and strengthening the digital security of government systems.
