Press Release
WASHINGTON, DC - Ways and Means Chairman Richard E. Neal (D-MA) released the following statement on the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) November 2021 jobs report:

"This month's jobs report shows another month of steady job growth. Combined with the recent positive revisions to prior jobs reports, it's clear that our economy is healing. We still need to strengthen the pathways back to work for many women - especially women of color - and continue to encourage all eligible Americans to get vaccinated and boosted as soon as possible. Our economic recovery hinges on our health, and with the omicron variant looming, now is the time to double down. The Senate must quickly pass the Build Back Better Act so we can continue pushing forward. The transformational legislation will cut taxes, lower costs for families, and create good-paying jobs.

"With unemployment at pre-pandemic levels and labor participation rates starting to rise, it seems Americans are moving from job to job, in search of better opportunities. The days of American workers accepting low wages and a lack of basic supports like paid family and medical leave are over. We've heard their calls, and the Build Back Better Act invests in supports that will increase workforce participation, particularly for women and people of color. The stronger and more resilient economy our country deserves is within our reach.

"It's time for the Senate to send the Build Back Better Act to President Biden's desk."
