Morrison Foerster Alumna Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson Sworn to U.S. Supreme Court

Today, Morrison Foerster alumna Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson was sworn in as the 116th Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

Justice Jackson is the first Black female Justice in the Court's 232-year history. She previously served on the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit and on the United States District Court for the District of Columbia.

Larren Nashelsky, chair of Morrison Foerster, said: "We congratulate Justice Jackson on her swearing in to serve on the U.S. Supreme Court. She was a key contributor to our firm and we are deeply proud to have an alumna on the Court."

Justice Jackson joined MoFo in 2007 as of counsel in the firm's Appellate and Supreme Court practice, directly following her time serving as an appellate assistant federal public defender. While at the firm, she worked on appellate cases, drafting briefs for clients whose cases were on appeal in various state and federal courts, including the Supreme Court. She left the firm in 2010 upon her confirmation as vice chair of the United States Sentencing Commission.

We are also pleased that one of our appellate associates Michael Qian, who previously served as a law clerk to Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, will be one of Justice Jackson's first Supreme Court law clerks.
