Carter secures Camden County resiliency funding to combat sea level rise

CAMDEN COUNTY - Rep. Earl L. "Buddy" Carter (R-GA) secured $1.24 million for the Camden County Resiliency Center to combat sea level rise along Georgia's coast as part of the Fiscal Year 2024 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

This funding will support the center's work to protect, restore, and responsibly develop Camden County. In partnership with College of Coastal Georgia, Georgia Institute of Technology, and the University of Georgia, the center will engage, educate, and monitor Georgia's coastal environment. It will also champion smart development that provides economic opportunity while mitigating hazards and adapting to a changing environment.

"The Camden County Resiliency Center does important work to make sure our communities can meet the challenges of our changing environment. Through community engagement, education, and recovery efforts, the center will help coastal Georgians stay prepared for sea level rise, erosion, and other coastal challenges, ensuring that we can enjoy our beautiful coast for generations to come," said Rep. Carter.
