UDOT warns drivers of heavy construction delays on I-215 west belt and I-15 in Davis County this weekend

Lane restrictions expected on I-215 from SR-201 to I-80; southbound I-15 to close for two nights in Farmington

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) advises drivers to plan ahead for heavy delays due to traffic restrictions on the I-215 west belt in Salt Lake City and on I-15 in Farmington this weekend.

The I-215 west belt will be reduced to one lane in each direction between California Avenue and I-80 from Friday, Sept. 15, at 7 p.m. to Saturday, Sept. 16, at 3 a.m. The freeway will be reduced to two lanes in each direction from Saturday to Sunday, Sept. 17, at 10 p.m., then down to one lane in each direction again through Monday, Sept 18, at 4 a.m. Drivers should expect delays of up to 15 minutes, especially when the freeway will be down to one lane in each direction. Travelers heading to or from the Salt Lake City International Airport from the south should use I-15 and I-80 as an alternate route.

During this closure, crews will be repairing pavement on the I-215 bridge over Indiana Avenue (approximately 800 South). Drivers should expect similar lane closures on I-215 in this area for the next several weekends. This is being done as part of a project to repair pavement on several I-215 bridges between Indiana Avenue and the I-80 interchange.

Also this weekend, southbound I-15 will be closed to all traffic from Park Lane in Farmington to Parrish Lane in Centerville for two nights. All southbound lanes will close from Friday, Sept. 15, at 11 p.m. to Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m., then again from Saturday at 11 p.m. to Sunday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m. Southbound traffic will be detoured onto Legacy Parkway during these closures. Crews will be placing pavement for the new lanes that will connect West Davis Highway to southbound I-15 when the highway opens (scheduled for late 2023).

Construction schedules are weather-dependent and subject to change.
