Shell Malaysia Kick Starts with Its People in Empowering Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

"We are truly honored that Shell reached out to us for this opportunity as part of Shell Malaysia's DE&I Week 2022. This further reaffirms Shell's commitment towards DE&I. It is our sincere hope that through the 3 X 3 wheelchair basketball event, we will be able to collectively demonstrate and create awareness that sports as a whole is a great platform to bring people together. I would like to take this opportunity to also thank Shell Malaysia for their donation- this will help contribute towards the carrying out of MWBF's activities/initiatives," said Idham Khalid, the President of Sarawak Wheelchair Basketball Federation.

"Shell Malaysia is pleased to be the first organisation to have reached out to MWBF to partner up with us on DE&I Week 2022. DE&I is an integral part of our organisation, and we hope that by organising the DE&I Week, Shell Malaysia is able to continue fostering an environment in which everyone can come to work as themselves, feel safe, and contribute freely," shared Shazmi Ali, VP of HR, Shell Malaysia.

Shell Malaysia's DE&I Week 2022, which was hosted by Shell's Human Resources team in partnership with the various employee networks in Shell, namely, Shell Women Action Network (SWAN), Menara Sports Club (MSC), and NEXUS (Graduate network) focused on the topics of Gender, Disability & Enablement, and Inclusion, which form part of Shell's Powering Lives aspirations.

Other than this collaboration with MWBF, other activities as part of Shell Malaysia's DE&I Week 2022 which took place from September 20th to 23rd include spotlight sessions with renowned speakers/sports personalities such as Madiha Fuad (founder and CEO of PlusVibes) and Cheah Liek Hou (Malaysia's para-badminton gold medalist) were invited to speak about their personal journeys where they have navigated through various obstacles including their own disability challenges.

Shell's Powering Progress strategy aims to deliver for our customers, for society, for our investors and for the planet. A strategy that's based on an ambitious but achievable set of goals that lay out how we believe Shell can and must play a role as the world accelerates towards a future of cleaner energy.

As we take the opportunities to change and grow in the energy transition, we want to be a company that brings value to society, and that's in step with society as it moves towards a net-zero future. We want to present a compelling investment case for our shareholders.

So, our four new goals of Powering Progress reflect this. They support our purpose - to power progress together by providing more and cleaner energy solutions. They're all critical to our future. And they're all underpinned by our core values of honesty, integrity, and respect for people, as well as our focus on safety:

  • Powering Progress focuses on working with our customers and across sectors to accelerate the transition and achieve net-zero emissions.
  • It means generating value for our shareholders, providing the financial strength to transform our company as the world makes the transition to cleaner energy.
  • Powering Progress means powering lives and livelihoods through our products and activities, and by supporting an inclusive society.
  • And it means respecting nature by protecting the environment, reducing waste and making a positive contribution to biodiversity.
