The Call for Applications 2023 to the Memory of the World Register of Latin America and the Caribbean is now open

We invite you to submit proposals to the Memory of the World, with records that account for the features of the history and evolution of Latin America and the Caribbean, to join those that the Regional Committee has recognized in previous years in archives, libraries or museums and, that document, among other milestones, processes and characteristics of:

  • migratory flows;
  • cultural, personal, artistic, scientific or commercial exchanges;
  • the struggle for land and geopolitical changes;
  • the colonial past;
  • the development of native populations or languages;
  • the richness of natural resources, their biodiversity and their endemic species;
  • the origin and development of dictatorships in the twentieth century; and
  • the struggle for human rights.

We call for a broad record of the cultural, social and historical processes interwoven through our societies.

The document or documentary set, of an archival, bibliographic nature, can be text-based (manuscript or printed), audiovisual (film, video, sound record), iconographic (photography, print, design) or cartographic, on paper or other material supports. They are in addition to digital and electronic documents and publications.

The conditions for participation and qualification of the applications candidatures are contained in the "Regulations for applications to the Memory of the World Register of Latin America and the Caribbean'' as well as its respective Application Form.

These documents as well as a message from the President of MoWLAC, Mr. Peter Scholing, are available on the MoWLAC website and on the website of the UNESCO Montevideo regional office.

The deadline for the submission of applications is
31 July 2023 at 23.59 hours, UTC-5 (Ecuador)

The final results of the evaluation will be published after the XXIII Annual Meeting of the MoWLAC Committee and will be available on the MoWLAC website: http://mowlac.org/ , and on the UNESCO Montevideo website: https://en.unesco.org/fieldoffice/montevideo/.
