Lakewood City Hall will be closed Monday, May 27 in observance of Memorial Day.
Lakewood's trash contractor, EDCO, always closed on Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and New Year's Day, will now also be closed on Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.
This means that trash pickup on those holiday weeks will be delayed one day.
For Memorial Day and Labor Day weeks, Monday trash service will move to Tuesday, Tuesday service to Wednesday, and so on, with Friday service moving to Saturday. For the Fourth of July, which falls on Thursday this year, trash collection will be delayed one day for Thursday and Friday customers only.
No street sweeping the week of Memorial Day (May 27-31)
With the one-day delay in trash pickup, street sweeping on the same day as trash pickup becomes very challenging with the potential for a low quality sweep.
For this reason and as a holiday week convenience for residents, the City of Lakewood is canceling street sweeping and street sweeping-related parking enforcement for the week of Memorial Day (May 27-31). Tickets will still be issued for parking in red zones, crosswalks, blocking sidewalks and other violations of the vehicle code.
Street sweepers will provide extra attention the week after Memorial Day if needed on particular blocks.
There will be NO street sweeping-related parking enforcement from Monday, May 27 through Friday, May 31.
Parking enforcement will continue for non-street-sweeping related violations, such as parking in red zones or blocking sidewalks.
