New data from the Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko shows energy from solar farms have been hitting new records this summer, with a historic peak of 128MW reached on 2pm, Thursday 6 February 2025.
From 16-22 February, (Figure 1), there was 60MW of mean daytime solar generation and total weekly generation of 11.8GWh. That's enough energy to power 1620 Kiwi households for a year.
