Statement on Africa Intelligence article, ‘Tripoli prosecutor probes NOC payments to oil trader BGN International

The Libyan National Oil Corporation (NOC) rejects the allegations made against the Corporation by Africa Intelligence in the article, 'Tripoli prosecutor probes NOC payments to oil trader BGN International', on 21 February 2023.

The NOC denies the claims that the Tripoli prosecutor general is investigating payments made by the NOC to certain overseas parties.

The Corporation operates within the rule of Libyan and international law. Contracts are professionally executed with appropriate due diligence. The NOC's accounts are independently audited.

The NOC and its leadership are operationally independent and politically neutral. The NOC serves a critical purpose for all the people of Libya.
