On April 24, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m., SP Canandaigua Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested 33-year-old Carlos Mattei Jr., of Newark, NY, for Predatory Sexual Assault Against a Child (A-II felony).

Subsequent to the analysis of evidence in an unrelated child sex abuse case, Investigators uncovered information that led them to a previously unreported sexual assault that occurred approximately three years ago in the village of Newark, NY.

Mattei Jr. was processed at the SP Lyons barracks and, after centralized arraignment, remanded to Wayne County Jail without bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 29, 2024.
