Emerging talent in spotlight for Revealed 2024 art exhibition

  • Forty-two artists to feature for first time in Western Australia's largest First Nations art exhibition, starting 9 May
  • More than 150 artworks spanning WA's rich cultural landscape, for event's 16th year
  • Popular Revealed: WA Aboriginal Art Market returns to Fremantle Arts Centre on 11 May

When Revealed 2024 opens its doors on Thursday, 9 May, visitors to the Aboriginal art exhibition at Fremantle Arts Centre will have the opportunity to see more than 150 pieces from some of Western Australia's finest First Nations artists.

With 42 artists showcasing their work in Revealed for the first time, this year's exhibition boasts the largest number of emerging artists in the event's 16-year history.

Revealed is a major event on the WA arts and culture calendar, having generated more than $4 million for the more than 1,000 WA First Nations artists whose work has been showcased since 2008.

The Revealed: WA Aboriginal Art Market on Saturday, 11 May will give enthusiasts and budding collectors alike the opportunity to buy artwork through a direct and ethical channel, with 30 stalls set to line the front lawn of the Fremantle Arts Centre.

The participating artists were selected by a panel of industry experts representing many of WA's regions, First Nations groups and cultural institutions.

This year also marks the first time that the initiative will be managed by a First Nations organisation. The Aboriginal Art Centre Hub of Western Australia (AACHWA) will bring strong cultural governance to Revealed through an agreement with the State Government to deliver the exhibition and market over the next three years.

Revealed is an initiative supported by the State Government through the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries and the Australian Government through the Indigenous Visual Arts Industry Support program.
