Penn State Altoona recognizes world language students at luncheon
Twenty-seven Penn State Altoona students who have been studying French, German, and Spanish, were recognized by the college's World Language Program for their outstanding performance this semester during a luncheon on April 25.

ALTOONA, Pa. - Twenty-seven Penn State Altoona students who have been studying French, German, and Spanish, were recognized by the college's World Language Program for their outstanding performance this semester during a luncheon on April 25.
Dr. Jutta Gsoels-Lorensen read an inspirational letter from Penn State Altoona alumnus Haldan Jacobson, who encourages students to change the way they may look at studying languages. "I implore whoever is reading this, not to think of learning another language as a pointless scheme to entrap you, but rather as a key to open doors - where to? I promise, you cannot begin to imagine."
Russian will be offered as part of the World Language Program at Penn State Altoona beginning in the fall 2024 semester along with American Sign Language, which was recently approved to satisfy the B.A. language requirement.
