NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC AND REQUEST FOR INFORMATION

Alaska Riverways, Inc.

Subject to AS 38.05.850, the Northern Regional Land Office has received an application for the following:

APPLICANT: Solstice Alaska Consulting, Inc. on behalf of Alaska Riverways, Inc.

PROJECT NAME: LAS 34861 Dredging within Chena River, Riverboat Discovery Dock

GEOGRAPHIC LOCATION: The dock is located along the south bank of the Chena River, 3.6 miles upstream from its confluence with the Tanana River; Lat: 64.8307 Long: -147.866533.

PROPERTY DESCRIPTION: Fairbanks Meridian, Township 1 South, Range 2 West, section 13.

REQUESTED ACTIVITY: The Department of Natural Resources, Division of Mining, Land and Water, Northern Regional Land Office, has received a Land Use Permit from Solstice Alaska Consulting, Inc. on behalf of Alaska Riverways, Inc. to dredge accumulated sediment from the bed of the Chena River within the docking basin for the Riverboat Discovery in Fairbanks. The purpose of the project is to conduct maintenance dredging where sediment has accumulated along the south bank of Chena River under the Riverboat Discovery dry dock. This is needed to allow the continued use of the dry dock for maintenance of the Riverboat Discover. It is estimated that approximately 4,000 cy of material will be removed from the bed of the Chena River.

REQUESTED TERM: The applicant has requested a single term of less than one year, January - March 2024.

DEADLINE FOR COMMENTS: Thursday, January 25, 2024.

The public is invited to comment on this activity. To ensure consideration, written comments must be received by the Division of Mining, Land and Water at 3700 Airport Way, Fairbanks, AK 99709 on or before 5:00 p.m. on the date noted above. After review and adjudication, we may issue an authorization with stipulations for the activity. The activity may be modified during the review and adjudication process.
