Defence Minister’s meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain
Minister of National Defence, Angel Tîlvăr, received the visit of the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain, José Antonio Hernández Pérez-Solórzano, on Thursday, 19 January, at the MoND.
The talks focused on current topics such as the security situation from the Black Sea region and the Western Balkans and the support provided to Ukraine by the two states. Thus, the officials agreed upon the need to support the Ukrainian state in defending its country and condemned the Russian Federation's brutal actions which resulted in civilian casualties.
In his allocution, Angel Tîlvăr pointed out the importance of the Joint Statement signed by the Prime Ministers in the common session of the governments, on 23 November, 2022, which ensure the premises of the consolidation of bilateral defence cooperation. Considering the current security context, the defence minister expressed Romania's appreciation with regard to Spain's significant contribution to the implementation of the Allied deterrence and defence measures on Romanian territory.
In the same context, the officials reviewed bilateral cooperation by emphasizing the exchanges of experience as well as the participation in multinational activities and exercises which will be organized in Romania, in 2023.
