Long Beach, CA - The Long Beach Public Library is thrilled to announce the anniversary celebration of The Studio Makerspace with a new exhibition, "A 10-Year Retrospective of Art and Maker Innovation," at the Billie Jean King Main Library. Launched in April of 2014, The Studio has become a vibrant hub of creativity and innovation, serving as a dynamic resource for artists and makers of all ages in the Long Beach community.

"The Studio has been a vibrant hub of creativity for our community over the past decade," said Mayor Rex Richardson. "As we celebrate its 10th anniversary, we recognize its profound impact on shaping Long Beach's cultural landscape. Congratulations to Long Beach Public Library and The Studio on this milestone achievement!"

Located inside the esteemed Billie Jean King Main Library, The Studio provides free programs and classes for creators of all ages. From 3D printing and CAD design to traditional arts and music production, The Studio offers a community workspace where people can meet, socialize, innovate and collaborate using a variety of state-of-the-art technology and resources.

To commemorate 10 years of service to the local arts community, community members are invited to attend an opening reception and art exhibition, followed by an open house on Saturday, April 13, from noon to 4 p.m. The new exhibit will take attendees on a journey through the evolution of art created at The Studio over the past decade, offering a firsthand experience of its transformative impact.

"Over the past decade, The Studio has been a beacon of creativity and innovation in our community, inspiring individuals to explore their passions and push boundaries," said Director of Library Services Cathy De Leon. "As we mark this milestone, we celebrate its enduring commitment to fostering creativity and collaboration in Long Beach."

In addition to the grand opening, The Studio will feature special guest makers leading workshops to celebrate the anniversary. On Saturday, March 30, Fem Synth Lab will present an interactive synthesizer experimentation session where patrons will learn what synthesizers are, how they can make sounds, and how to use those sounds in their own music-making. On Saturday, April 6, watercolor artist and educator Carly Lake will offer insights into the captivating world of watercolor painting. The Studio will continue to host workshops throughout the month of April highlighting its most popular services. These workshops allow participants to engage with various artistic mediums and expand their creative horizons.
