Foul Weather Shelter Activation

The City of Ventura and the River Community Church will be activating the Foul Weather Shelter Program on Friday, March 29, 2024, in preparation for inclement weather of more than an ½ inch of rain. The Housing Services Division will be reserving a limited number of motel rooms at a local motel where individuals 65+ and/or with chronic health/medical conditions will be prioritized. For the individuals who are not provided with a room, we will be providing them with "stay warm" packs.

The individuals desiring shelter should arrive at the River Community Church located at 859 E. Santa Clara St., Ventura, CA 93001 on Friday no earlier than 5:00pm and no later than 6:00pm. The staff members provided by the City and County of Ventura will conduct the initial intake and screening of individuals. Once the intake process has been completed, volunteers will welcome individuals and guide them to the waiting area for transportation to their room or provide them with a "stay warm" pack.

f you are available to volunteer tomorrow, please sign up. Please note that this will be our final activation for the FY 2023-2024 season and appreciate everyone's assistance in ensuring that we can provide much needed resources to individuals experiencing unsheltered homelessness.
