Scottsdale is proud to join more than 600 partners across the country celebrating Food Waste Prevention Week, a week-long campaign to raise awareness and inspire everyone to reduce food waste at home, work and in our communities.
Scottsdale will be sharing tips all week on social media to let residents know how they can make simple changes in their home by changing habits, composting, and donating food as well as hosting a class where residents can learn more about composting at home.
Everyone Can Compost will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, April 3 at Mustang Library, 10101 N. 90th St., Scottsdale. During the class, residents can learn about the variety of options available to effectively divert food waste from local landfills, bring questions and learn how Scottsdale composts. Scottsdale has partnered with local businesses that can help residents compost in their homes.
Food waste is responsible for 40 percent of the material that goes into the landfill nationwide and ending food loss and waste requires purposeful action.
