The City of Grover Beach is pleased to announce the results of the 2023 Community Survey. Conducted biennially since 2017, the Community Survey is a critical tool for the City to gauge residents' perception of key issues, satisfaction with City services and top priorities.
At its Jan. 22 meeting, the Grover Beach City Council received and discussed the survey findings, which will inform future City policies, priorities and Major City Goals. Survey respondents generally expressed high satisfaction with City services and the quality of life in Grover Beach - while issues like homelessness, road conditions and public safety emerged as continued top priorities.
"We are grateful for the 2023 Community Survey and the tremendous wealth of insights and data it offers our City," said Grover Beach Mayor Karen Bright. "This direct feedback from our residents is invaluable, and I'm pleased that residents have expressed satisfaction and progress in Grover Beach."
Key highlights of the 2023 Community Survey results include:
The City engaged Probolsky Research, a survey research firm, to conduct the 2023 Community Survey. The statistically valid survey polled a representative sample of 400 residents, who were contacted via phone and online between Oct. 11 and 25, 2023. The 56 survey questions sought residents' viewpoints on key issues facing Grover Beach, their satisfaction with City services and quality of customer service, their ability to access information about City services and events, potential revenue measures and more. Spanish translations were provided as needed.
The survey results will be used to inform policy, budgetary and operational decisions, such as updating Council Goals and prioritizing City services for funding. Staff recommends conducting a similar survey in 2025 to track ongoing changes in perceptions and compare results with previous surveys.
"The 2023 Community Survey is a valuable tool for shaping forward-thinking initiatives and enhancing the City, but it's only one element in our ongoing improvement journey," said Grover Beach City Manager Matthew Bronson.
"We're committed to working together, sharing our goals and collaborating consistently to build a brighter community for everyone."
