Rep. Don Bacon “Rushed to Defend” Indicted Nebraska Congressman

Congressman Don Bacon "rushed to defend " his colleague and campaign donor Congressman Jeff Fortenberry (NE-01) in the wake of his indictment by a federal grand jury yesterday.

Ignoring the fact that Fortenberry is charged with lying to federal authorities during an investigation into illegal campaign contributions funneled to him from a foreign nationalist, Bacon wasted no time praising his colleague for being a "good-hearted man" and "not someone I would attribute these accusations to."

Bacon has received $5700 from Fortenberry's leadership PAC since he launched his first campaign.

"It's shameful that Congressman Don Bacon would rush to defend his fellow D.C. politician and campaign donor who has shown that he'd rather lie to pad his campaign coffers than tell the truth. This kind of behavior has no place in Congress, and Don Bacon should say as much," said DCCC Johanna Warshaw.
