Western Sydney University hosts annual Engineering Educators conference

This month Western Sydney University's School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment will host the annual Australasian Association for Engineering Education (AAEE) Conference at the Parramatta City campus over three days.

This year's conference titled Future of Engineering Education will see over 250 delegates participate in person, and online, from close to 14 countries from across the globe. It will bring together Associate Deans, Deputy Deans and academic colleagues from Engineering institutions in Australia and New Zealand.

The conference will be opened by Western Sydney University's Vice-Chancellor and President, Professor Barney Glover AO along with NSW Member for Parramatta, the Hon, Geoff Lee MP.

Prominent educational experts from Australia, United Kingdom and the United States of America will make keynote presentations including Professor Mark Hastak, Purdue University; Professor Emanuela Tilley, University College London; Professor James Arvanitakis, Forrest Research Foundation; and Professor Cath Ellis from The University of New South Wales.

Along with these esteemed keynotes, there will be a number of sessions that will look at a range of topics including, digital tools in education, diversity, equity and inclusion, professional skills and employability and sustainable development. A highlight of the conference will be a round table discussion on women in engineering and launch of a book on indigenous engineering.

Associate Professor Surendra Shrestha, Associate Dean, Learning and Teaching with the University's School of Engineering, Design and Built Environment is pleased to be welcoming his colleagues to western Sydney.

"Hosting this conference this year will also coincide with Western Sydney University teaching engineering for more than 30 years. It will be exciting to gather and network and develop partnerships that will last long into the future," said Professor Shrestha.
